In the first week of September, 2004 a powerful Spring storm
hit Sydney. It was evident even early in the morning... you
can see the front moving across in these pictures I took at
Stanwell park early in the day.
I took the picture above at a tidal inlet near Brighton Le
Sands. It was my first time trying to capture a photo with
lightning in it, and I am very pleased with the results.
The lightnng strikes gave the beach a ghostly hue, and affect
that I have played upon in the digital darkroom.
The impressive lightshow was followed by an extensive hail
storm that covered the roads inches deep in ice. Before the
storm a rainbow was visible on Botany Bay for over an hour.
The picture below shows both the storm and the last few minutes
of the rainbow before it faded away.
