A few days before my brother Paul got married last year I
took a day off and drove down the Great Ocean Road, which
included a trip to the Twelve Apostles. (See
here). As arranged, I picked up my girlfriend at Avalon
airport that evening and we spent the night at nearby Geelong.
The next morning my other brother Glenn (Paul's twin... well
triplet actually...) collected a plane from Moorabin airfield
and met us at Geelong airfield.
We took the Cesna up and flew across Port Phillip Heads to
Torquay, the offical start of the Great Ocean Road, and one
of the country's top surf areas..(Check out the lines of swell
coming in!)
The picture above looks soth towards Torquay, Jan Juc and
eventually Bells Beach, where the Rip Curl Pro surfing comp
is held every Easter. As you can see, the weather was not
so great that morning... if you look closely in the top left
corner you can even see the rain falling over the farms...
one of the great things about being up in the air is seeing
things on a completely different scale.
